Montreal pilot’s proposal, 6 years in the making, goes viral

We’ve featured some pretty romantic and over-the-top marriage proposals here, but this is a first: a proposal that took six years.

Over the past six years, a Montreal pilot and his girlfriend have travelled the world together.

At each exotic and far-away location, the couple held up giant letters in photographs. The photos of the letters spell “We always knew.”

The boyfriend-turned-fiancé, YouTube user daviator358, wrote of their lettered adventures, “We wanted to prove that if one day we got married that ‘we always knew.’”

While they both “knew” they were made for each other, the grand finale — a proposal that’s now gone viral — came as a surprise for the girlfriend.

In their hometown of Montreal, they held up another letter: “W.”

Unbeknownst to the girlfriend, people behind them held up a banner that spelled out the rest of the phrase: “Will you marry me?”

He showed her the picture on the camera.

And she said yes.
