Marriage proposal accidentally filmed by TV cameraman

Elaborate marriage proposals are everywhere. It seems a day can't go by without another over-to-top, impossible-to-beat, going-viral "Will you marry me?" moment.

Custom movie trailers, improvisational karaoke performances and television commercials are among the many impressive proposals we've noted here.

Josh Mullin kept things simple. When his girlfriend, Ashlee Baldwin, picked him up at the Kansas City International Airport yesterday, he seized the moment and dropped to one knee.

The quiet, private moment was supposed to be just that. Mullin didn't notice that he was in view of a TV camera.

His proposal ended up on television. While KMBC reporter Brenda Washington stood outside the airport, informing viewers about healthy eating, her cameraman captured Mullin on one knee in the background.

The scene cut away to B-roll mid-proposal.

At the end of the story, Washington, by then notified that a young couple just got engaged in view of the camera, turned her attention to the couple, asking if it's "for real."

It is.
