Erdem, Smythe, Alexander McQueen, even Zara – these are a few of the labels that are prominent in Kate Middleton’s enviable closet. But becoming an international trendsetter comes at a price.
The Duchess of Cambridge has reportedly spent $56,000 on her royal wardrobe this year, according to her father-in-law, Prince Charles. Although Charles is more than happy to foot the clothing bill, claiming Jenny Packham and Roland Mouret gowns as ‘work-related’ expenses, it is noteworthy to compare the amount to the $70,000 salary her husband, Prince William, makes as a search-and-rescue pilot.
This style budget follows the news that Middleton also goes to her favourite salon, Richard Ward Hair and Metrospa in London, three times a week for $75 blowouts – which is surely to thank for her perfectly-curled and shiny hair.
But the Duchess isn’t all frivolous spending. Along with her designer choices, Middleton has also been spotted wearing more affordable high street labels such as Zara and Reiss, and has even repeated outfits on several occasions. Our opinion? Money well spent.
