Target Canada's Spring 2013 Preview

As we walked down a dark hallway inside Toronto's Evergreen Brick Works, Canadian press and media outlets were welcomed into the world of Target Canada. Set to launch this spring (we hear it's as early as March!), the bullseye retail giant gave insiders an exclusive look at the brands set to hit the shelves in the coming months. The Target team welcomed a slew of surprise celebrity guests including designer Nate Berkus, cooking star Giada De Laurentiis, beauty pro Sonia Kashuk and celebrity stylist Kate Young-all of whom will have lines at Target Canada once they launch.

Target Canada's Spring 2013 Preview

Following a friendly hello from all of Target's guest designers, cameras and eyes flipped to the runway for a preview of the retailer's spring offering. Models walked and skated down the ice rink showing off fresh threads by labels such as C9 by Champion, Caerokee, Merona and Mossimo Supply Co.

Target Canada's Spring 2013 Preview

For fashion die-hards, the retailer also flew in A-list stylist Kate Young who will be launching a capsule collection on April 14, the first Target designer collaboration to land in Canada. While notes on her line are top secret, Young did spill on her favourite red carpet trends right now, her latest obsession and what she's loving at the couture shows in Paris:

Favourite red carpet trend: "I really like black and white. I thought Julianne Moore's dress [at the 2013 Golden Globes] was really cool. I really like beading too. There was a while when I was totally over it, like it felt heavy and older. But now, it feels fresh and modern. There's that glitz and Studio 54 aspect to it that I love."

Latest obsession: "I'm obsessed with Downton Abbey so I think everyone should dress like the ladies on the show. Lady Mary's wedding dress...I hope somebody wears it."

The best couture show of the season: "The shows have been great so far. The two brides at Chanel, that was a beautiful moment. And the beauty look with the lacy eyes. Look 28 from the Dior show is everything. There's a puff on the side with a slit too, someone will definitely wear that. I think Jennifer Lawrence is going to wear it just because she's the face of Dior. Everybody wants that dress."
