    Healthy Eating at Harvey's

When we think of Harvey’s, we think of a real Canadian hamburger, topped any way we like.  But we also think of onion rings, fries and chicken fingers. Is there any way to eat right at a fast food burger joint? We’re breaking down the healthy versus the not-so-healthy choices.

    Burger Navigation

As with all burger menus, keep it simple.  Think regular-sized, single patty — and skip the double- or triple-deckers, mushroom melts or bacon specials.

We’re fans of the Original Cheeseburger topped with mustard, ketchup, pickles, hot peppers and lettuce (lots of toppings with little to no calories or fat).  The 460 calories, 23 grams of fat, 39 grams of carbs and 25 grams of protein are worth every bite (and won’t break your diet).

    Non-Burger Burgers
We’ve never met a grilled chicken sandwich we didn’t like, and the same goes for the Classic Chicken Grilled on a whole wheat bun.  With just 290 calories, 5 grams of fat, 28 grams of carbs and 34 grams of protein, a fast food sandwich really doesn’t get much leaner (or tastier).

The veggie burger on a whole wheat bun is also a winner.  With just 290 calories, 10 grams of fat, 33 grams of carbs and 18 grams of protein, the beef-eaters may want to think about making a switch.

    Salad Entree
For something light on carbs, the Warm Grilled Chicken Salad ranks supreme (especially when vying for fries). At just 170 calories, this salad keep the calories low. Opt for olive oil vinaigrette or light Italian dressing (saving room for…you guessed it, fries).

    Did Someone Say Fries?
The kids-sized fries is by far the safest option when it comes to fried snacks (190 calories, 7 grams of fat, 29 grams of carbs), but if you’re up for sharing, order a regular (320 calories, 13 grams of fat, 49 grams of carbs) and split the difference.

    Just Say No:
To the Onion Rings.  Unless you can eat just two or three, save yourself the torturous 270 calories, 15 grams of fat, 33 grams of carbs.  The same goes for the Poutine. Say hello to 840 calories, 43 grams of fat, 87 grams of carbs and 2,210 mg of sodium.

Harvey's is the best place. The burgers are hot, juicy, very tasty and you can top it with your own choices. The best part is that it is made right in front of you so you know that some sick person isn't spitting on it, picking it off the floor, reusing someone's send back or other disgusting thing that are known to be practised at other places. The staff are always cheery, efficient and work to satisfy the customer. I love going to Harvey's. I drive a good distance to treat myself to one of their amazing, juicy, hot, fresh, delicious burgers. I never eat the junk at the other places like, Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King or any place else. I always go to Harvey's because I can see what I am getting and choose how I want it served and it is always made fresh.

nothing is ever good enough no matter what and how we eat.
--- drink milk its good for ur bones but NOT homo its too fat
--- eat salad but not at night
--- grilled food is good but the not the burnt ones its cancerous
---- egg good source of protein but too much cholesterol if you eat the yolk
it gets really confusing sometimes, doesn't it???

So let's decode this article. I should walk into a BURGER joint with the intention of NOT ordering a BURGER! Yeah - that makes a lot of sense to me! I wonder what I'm doing in a BURGER place if I am deathly afraid of calories to begin with! Next thing you know you will be avoiding sea food at Red Lobster! Tell you what, go to Pizza Hut - just don't order pizza! And - oh yes - never ever order fries at New York Fries! Coffee at Tim Horton's is an outright no-no! And really bad would be to order a sub at Subway!

Another BRAINLESS article entitled " EATING HEALTHY at your local FAST FOOD emporium". What kind of idiot writes this CRAP. I think we ALL KNOW that people eat fast food because it TASTES GOOD and is FAST not because it is HEALTHY.

My Harvey's Serving Swiss Chalet (in the same restaurant) is also my top choice for a fast food meal....i do agree with the above article about avoiding onion rings and poutine (but they're delicious too!). Add a glass of water (Free) or a juice and U got it all!

My order at Harvey's is a double burger meal and a large strawberry milkshake if I'm still hungry I will have a dessert. I don't count calories, fat, carbs or protein, my brain will tell me when I'm full, and when I'm full I feel good. I don't believe starvation makes you healthy.

I never walk into a FastFood place thinking "what is healthy here"! If that is my concern, or I want to eat healthy I am NOT getting a burger! And people wonder why they are fat. When your trying to decide which burger is healthier, you have issues.

Bahhh! Instead of worying about the calories - go out and walk, go to the gym, ride a bicycle...Enjoy your calories - just expend more through exercise than you ingest!

Aww...as someone who eats fast food maybe (!) once every month or even two, sometimes even three, I was looking forward to a discussion about taste, not health....
