Crazy or Genius? Would You Wear Bootie Pies Pedicure Boots?

Crazy or Genius? Would You Wear Bootie Pies Pedicure Boots?

Ahh, pedicures... Between the foot-rubbing, the sole-soaking and the cheery rainbow of polishes, there aren’t many things that sound as blissful in the dead of winter. But actually trudging to and from the salon on slushy, snow-covered sidewalks? That’s usually irritating enough to make me live with calluses and unpolished toes ‘til April.

Enter “Bootie Pies”—one of the most outside-the-box (if silliest-looking) beauty inventions I've seen in a long time. The pedicure footwear features a design gimmick that converts them from a standard-issue, Ugg-inspired boot to an open-toed style for toe-painting and polish-drying.

So just how do they work? When you’re ready to apply your chosen lacquer, first press down your Bootie Pies' front flaps and slip on the boots, allowing your toes rest on their patent-leather tops. Let your pedicurist paint away. Then hit the streets with your toes exposed (but the rest of your feet cozy), wearing this wintertime alternative to flip-flops.

Bootie Pies don’t come cheap, topping out at $88 for a suede-and-patent-leather pair. But in theory, they could pay for themselves by preventing ruined pedicures.

There’s been lots of debate around the office over Bootie Pies, with some staffers finding the idea genius and others voting it crazy. So we’ll leave it up to you: Would you wear open-toed boots to save your polish, or are you happy to risk a smudge in the dead of winter wearing your regular footwear?
