I'd like to steal a moment from all the über romantic stories on offer this week to share a not-so sweet but surely helpful and kinda funny story.
One of my closest friends is going through a breakup. The past month's been marked with the usual highs and lows that follow: tearful evenings with wine and wild nights with even more wine. Through it all, she's been a champ, and recently reduced me to uncontrollable laughter as she shared a wonderful discovery that's come from the breakup.
We were standing side-by-side facing my mirror, applying makeup before going out to meet friends. As she took out her mascara she turned to me and said, "This is the very best mascara. I've cried everyday for a month and it never once smudged! And it's not even waterproof!" If that's not glass-half-full thinking, I don't know what is.
The mascara in question was Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara (and it's awesome!). But the real reason I shared this story, on today of all days, is because I wanted to remind all those reading this who may not be planning a romantic dinner for two tomorrow, that it's OK. You're not the only single person out there, it's OK to cry, but there's no excuse for smudged eye makeup.
