Tortilla swaddle blanket turns your baby into a burrito

Sick of your baby looking so Plain Jane? California-based Bon Vivant Baby has just the product for you.

The company that creates food-inspired fashion for infants has just launched their Tortilla Baby swaddle blanket and matching hat. The idea is that doting parents can swaddle their infant in the blanket that looks like a tortilla and hat that resembles the knotted end of a burrito, for a decidedly tasty look.

"It's just a cute fun way to make your baby look edible," founder Katharine Harlan Owens explains to Time.

But why a burrito? Owens says that she came up with the idea after hearing her friends with young infants constantly referring to the "burrito effect", where swaddling an infant results in a baby that looks like the classic Mexican meal.

"After all, every mom has made the connection between a swaddled baby and a fully-stuffed burrito," the Bon Vivant website reads. "But now that moms have a blanket that actually looks like a tortilla, they can make the 'burrito baby' a reality."

The 40-inch round blanket is made from 50 per cent cotton and 50 per cent polyester and comes with instructions on how to master the perfect swaddle.

Tortilla Baby is available online for $48 and is currently the only product the company sells. They plan to offer a sushi blanket, egg roll blanket and crepe blanket in January 2014.
