If you thought banning yoga pants from schools was excessive, just wait till you hear about this one.
A Texas middle-school girl has been barred from classes at Seagraves Junior High for the last two days, all because she dyed part of her hair blond.
"It's not hurting anybody but it's killing her not to be able to walk into a classroom and get her work done because in the long run she's gonna be behind… because of her hair?" the girl's mother, Watasha Houston, tells local news station KCBD.

Her daughter, Neices, has dark hair, but recently dyed a strip blond in the front. Watasha says she gave her daughter permission to dye her hair in that style as a reward for getting straight-A's on her report card two years in a row.
The school, on the other hand, determined the style to be "inappropriate grooming."
"Any color or bleach that creates two different colors that are extreme, opposite of the natural color, then that is violation of dress code," explains the school's superintendent Kevin Spiller.
Watasha claims the school threatened her daughter with in-school suspension if her hair colour is not changed within a certain time frame, and has prevented her from attending normal classes in the meantime.
Watasha and her daughter have no plans to budge on the matter. Since the incident, Neices has enrolled in a neighbouring school district.
Earlier this month, an Oklahoma schoolgirl was in tears after being told her tiny dreads were in violation of school dress code. Her parents claim they were left with no choice but to remove their seven-year-old from the school after a long battle with school officials.

And in February, a Utah teen was suspended for four days after dying her hair a modest shade of auburn. She was only allowed to return once the colour faded.
