Robyn Lawley becomes Ralph Lauren’s first plus-size model

Robyn Lawley, 23, stands 6 feet, 2 inches tall. The statuesque size-12 Australian beauty has been making waves in the modelling world, scoring contracts rarely offered to plus-size models.

Lawley has graced the covers of French Elle and Vogue Italia. She made history last summer as the first plus-size model featured in Vogue Australia. And this summer, she was named the face of Boux Avenue Lingerie this summer.

Now, in another groundbreaking contract, the model has become the first plus-size model to spearhead a campaign for designer Ralph Lauren.

Watch the ABC news video below discussing Lawley's success.

"Robyn is absolutely paving the way for fuller figured women to land these larger campaigns," says People magazine's senior writer Jen Garcia .

Lawley is scheduled to do her third shoot for Ralph Lauren next week.

"I was really stoked and really happy that they're continuing to work with me," Lawley tells the Daily Beast. "It's a huge deal for print models to work with a big designer."

She says she was aware of the brand's earlier Photoshopping scandals and initially assumed the company made a mistake in contacting her.

Lawley's Ralph Lauren images will be used for in-store advertising and PR purposes only, her agent reveals. So don't expect to see her face on a billboard just yet.

On Good Morning America this week, Lawley spoke of her success and her size, but declined to give her weight.

"I was surprised," she says of the weight question. "Sometimes models are likened to race horses. If I say my weight, people are going to target me, and they don't know my BMI. I think it's best not to include."

In the GMA interview, Lawley, who previously called herself "normal size," says that she's a size 12.

It should be noted that an American size 12 is the equivalent to a U.K. size 16, which explains why news sources differ when talking about her size.
