Paula Deen makes appearance on ‘MasterChef,’ divides viewers
Paula Deen, the embattled celebrity chef recently dropped by the Food Network for her use of the N-word, made an appearance Wednesday night on an episode of "MasterChef" -- a reality cooking show which pits amateur home cooks against each in competition.
The episode was recorded in March, long before Deen's racial scandal erupted -- but it still left viewers with mixed opinions. Show executives considered either editing or not airing the episode, but in the end decided to air it, so as to avoid a host of complications, reports the Los Angeles Times.

We know she pretaped it, but Paula Deen sure has bad timing. Appearing on Master Chef on the 50th anniversary of MOW -- PRICELESS. — Sarah Reese Jones (@srjones66) August 30, 2013
@MASTERCHEFonFOX invite Paula Deen to represent the south/southern cooking...not a brown/dark-skinned face to be found. What a shock. — ryanrogers (@ryanrogers) August 29, 2013
