‘Gangnam Style’ music video is the only thing that gets baby Benjamin to eat

Babies can be fussy eaters, and parents will go to great lengths to convince their little ones to eat — airplane game, anyone?

One dad from Tufnell Park, London, U.K., has discovered the effectiveness of feeding his baby Benjamin with his own original technique — "Gangnam-Style."

If you haven't heard of it, "Gangnam Style" is a song by South Korean rapper Psy. The "Gangnam Style" music video on YouTube currently holds the record for receiving the most ever "likes." It debuted at number one in South Korea this past July, and quickly drew widespread acclaim, and endorsements from pop music celebrities like Katy Perry and Britney Spears.

Whether or not you like the song is a matter of taste, but its catchy beat can't be denied, and little Benjamin's dad Andrew is a fan. According to Andrew, Benjamin usually takes about an hour to eat his lunch. One day, he decided to play Benjamin the "Gangnam Style" video at feeding time.

"I really enjoyed the video and I was always curious if Benjamin would like it too," says Andrew. "The first time I introduced it to him at a mealtime, I literally fed him within 7 minutes, or less than two plays of the video."

Naturally, Andrew thought it only made sense to make a YouTube video of the trance-like effect "Gangnam Style" has on Benjamin. That video has now been viewed close to half a million times and featured in media around the world.

Viewers who watch Benjamin eating on YouTube will be given the option of visiting the website Gangnamstylebaby.com, which Andrew created to tell the story of Benjamin's unusual response to the video.

"My theory is that the video shuts down some of his higher brain processes, and Benjamin just accepts whatever's put in front of his mouth," says Andrew on the site. "Of course, we don't allow him to watch lots of TV at other times of the day, and we only feed him as much as he needs - my wife is speech and language therapist and won't have it any other way. However, the Gangnam Style video and the reduced length of mealtimes has given us a lots of additional family time together, and has made us happier and less-frustrated parents too."

The site also features a video of a homemade rocker Andrew has fashioned out of a drill and the strap of an IKEA shopping bag.

Whatever works.
