‘Fashion Like’: Clothing hanger displays how many ‘likes’ the item has

Ever found yourself shopping for an important outfit without the benefit of a friend's opinion to keep you company? Twisting this way and that in the dressing room mirror, attempting to glimpse every angle, trying to figure out if the dress you've donned is fabulously bold or fabulously brash?

Well, the Europeans have come to your rescue. Possibly aware that sometimes a girl's best friend is a second opinion, fashion retailer C&A has introduced digital hangers to their stores in Brazil.

How does it work? 'Like' an item on their C&A Brazil Facebook Page and it will register on a digital display embedded in the item's hanger in the store. In-store shoppers will then see how many 'likes' the garment has received and can gauge whether their selection is a hit or a miss, according to the online masses.

C&A isn't the first retailer to solicit virtual buyer feedback. Online retailer ModCloth offers customers an option to "Be the Buyer" directly on their site, where shoppers can vote on items buyers are considering offering in the store.

And AdRants points out that last month, Stussy tried to engage their Facebook audience with an ad campaign called Strip For Likes, that featured an overdressed-for-winter model shedding layers of clothing based on how many 'likes' she received on the brand's Facebook page.

Is there a downside to the digital hanger? Mashable reminds shoppers that hanging items can be switched from hanger to hanger in-store, thereby skewing the results. In that case, a shopper wouldn't be seeing the true number of 'likes' for that particular garment.

Would you buy an item that had a lot of Facebook 'likes'? Or stay away from it for fear of seeing yourself coming and going?
