"Science and nature have come together to make a functional food that leaves your skin with a beautiful rose fragrance. The innovative technology behind Deo Perfume Candy is based on research by Japanese scientists," the website explains.

"Their studies showed that when ingested, rose oil exudes aromatic compounds, such as geraniol, through the skin. When evaporating through the skin, geraniol aromatizes it with a beautiful rose fragrance."

While it's been called "edible deodorant", Jezebel's Medeleine Davies calls it the deodorant "for the person who'd rather eat candy than shower like a normal person".

Four pieces of the tangerine-flavoured candy — considered a single serving — is recommended for a 145-pound person. The sweet-smelling effect should last for 6 hours.

Deo Perfume Candy is currently available online at Amazon for $7.99, considerably cheaper than your average perfume bottle — but you'll also run out considerably faster. It should be available elsewhere soon.

Does a dual-purpose candy appeal to you? Or would you rather keep those little indulgences separate, unwrapping a Jolly Rancher and applying your Chanel No. 5 on separate occasions?
