Couple marry in hospital minutes before daughter’s birth

As James Anderson watched his fiancé go into labour this past Sunday, he only had one regret -- he wished he had married her.

So, the Texas man told his then-fiancé, Brandi, who was in the midst of contractions, that he had to go to the store. He came back with a wedding ring and an elaborate plot.

"I just couldn’t shake the idea of her having the baby without the ring on her finger,” James tells CBS News. The couple already has a six-year-old son together.

James conspired with the nurses to plan an impromptu wedding at the hospital in North Richland Hills, TX.

One of the nurses contacted her father, who is a preacher, and asked him to marry the couple at the hospital. Several other nurses pitched in and decorated a special room for the ceremony.

“The only thing I felt was regret that I didn’t do it a long time ago,” James says.

Thirty minutes after they exchanged vows, Brandi gave birth to a baby girl.
