Cheating moms most likely to join Ashley Madison the day after Mother’s Day

Ever wonder when cheaters feel most comfortable betraying their partners? What are the emotional complexities that leads one down the dark and lonely road of infidelity? What triggers it?

Well, according to the latest press release from morally dubious cheating website Ashley Madison, mothers are most likely to sign up on their website the day after Mother's Day.

In 2012, the website saw a 439 per cent spike in female signups as compared to a typical Monday. Nearly 70 per cent of the sites members are mothers.

"Mother's Day tends to magnify the flaws, leads to questions about the choices you have made, and ultimately fosters conclusions around doing something different for yourself," explains Ashley Madison founder and chief operating officer Noel Biderman.

"This latter choice tends to be the genesis of many women's journey into an affair."

Based on a survey of 15,000 unfaithful women, Ashley Madison has done us the "honours" of outlining the typical profile of a mother cheater.

  • She's 31 years old

  • Has been married five years or less

  • Has a daughter under three years old

"While Mother’s Day might not have the implicit romance factor of Valentine’s Day or an anniversary, it’s a holiday that compels women to reflect on their relationships,” says Biderman.

As for the most popular Ashley Madison signup day overall for women, it is the day after Valentine's Day.

Previous surveys conducted the U.S. show women cheat just as frequently as men, and that men who cheat are often still in love with their wives.
