Blogger making 300 sandwiches for marriage proposal inks book deal

The infamous "300 sandwiches" blogger, Stephanie Smith, just signed a book deal with Random House imprint Zinc Ink.

The The New York Post reporter made headlines in September for wanting her boyfriend to propose so badly she was willing to make him 300 sandwiches.

It all started when her boyfriend Eric Schulte, who is the main cook in the partnership, begged Smith to make him a sandwich. When she finally caved, he declared:

"Honey, you're 300 sandwiches away from an engagement ring!"

"You women read all these magazines to get advice on how to keep a man, and it's so easy," Schulte told the New York Post at the time. "We're not complex. Just do something nice for us. Like make a sandwich."

So, Smith took him up on his offer and began making him 300 sandwiches, all the while chronicling her adventure on her Tumblr blog, 300sandwiches.com. She is currently about 102 sandwiches away from her goal.

The book will take a deeper look at couple's relationship and is set for release in time for Valentine's Day 2015.

"While the blog talks mostly about food and our adventures in the kitchen, the book will provide a more in-depth look at the issues and conversations between Eric and I as our relationship progressed," Smith tells ABC. "But of course, you'll still get to see some tasty sammies."

Smith sparked online criticism in September after writing a column that explained her quest. Frustrated and confused critics cried sexism at her seemingly forced domestication for a marriage proposal, although both her and Schulte have said the 300 sandwiches are not a hard and fast requirement for an engagement to happen, but that it was simply a light-hearted joke between the two of them.
