B.C. family films musical tribute to Tim Hortons with YouTube video

Canadians really, really love their Timmy’s.

Could it be a pride thing? Because along with poutine and maple syrup, Tim Hortons coffee may be one of our only recognizable culinary contributions to the world.

Tim Hortons sits atop a lofty perch in our cultural lexicon, so much so that fans have even started filming tribute videos to express their love and devotion to the restaurant’s iconic red coffee cups.

The Brucker family of Kelowna, B.C. spent a recent Sunday putting together their musical tribute to the Timmys they so dearly love.

Using Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup” as a musical jumpoff, Gary Brucker, his wife and their daughters rewrote the lyrics to pay homage to the “Tim Hortons Cup”.

"My girls and I wrote the words in about 30 minutes last year and just sat on it. We wanted to do a video but did not know where and when," Brucker tells the Huffington Post Canada. "Our friends who owns two Tim Hortons stores encouraged us to put it together."

Those same friends opened up their Sexsmith, B.C. location for the Bruckers’ use and even threw in a bunch of red Roll Up The Rim T-shirts to give it a smack of realism.

Daughter Emily recorded the vocals then filmed and edited the entire video on an iPad.
“The next day we uploaded it to YouTube," the proud papa tells the HuffPo.

Those in search of a slickly produced effort may want to look elsewhere. The video is silly and cheesy and adorable and doesn’t try to be anything else.

Perhaps that’s why it’s started to gain traction in the fickle social media sphere, picking up a respectable 15,000 views and counting in just over a week. Not too shabby for a homemade weekend family project.

It could be that there’s something familiar and undeniably… well, Canadian about the whole affair.

But in fact, it's not just Canadians who have taken to the Timmy fervor. Just ask the residents of Buffalo, NY, many of whom are trying to piece together how this Canadian java franchise has triggered the same 40-deep lineups south of the border.

Whatever the reason, there’s no doubt that Timmys is continuing to work that black java magic on our mind, hearts and stomachs.
