The world will be a little less awesome on April 19, when Neil Pasricha, author of the blog '1000 Awesome Things' and the best-selling Books of Awesome series posts his final entry.

What started as a way to cheer himself up during a difficult time in his life slowly turned into an international sensation with a cult following of people taking pleasure in the life's little details.

"I started writing [the blog] on June 20, 2008. I thought 1000 was a small number!" said Pasricha.

"It wasn't until a few weeks into it when somebody told me I would be writing one awesome essay every single night for four years until I hit #1."

Yahoo! Canada Shine recently chatted with Pasricha about the final post of his blog and how people can invite a little awesome into their lives. Here are his top five tips.

5. Write down one awesome thing a day. Did somebody leave cake in your cubicle? Did you score a big thank-you wave in traffic? Did your boss call in sick? Whatever it is: write it down! Soon you'll have a collection that will give you instant smiles.

4. Change something right now. Keep thinking awesome thoughts by changing something in your brain. Take a new route home from work, go to a different grocery store, or surprise your hubby with flashy underwear tonight. '1000 Awesome Things' always gave me something new to think about!

3. Hand write a thank you note. We're all digital. This is digital! Love letters are digital. Flirting is digital. Bring it back down to paper and drop a note on somebody's desk, pillow, or lunch bag.

2. Search for "Babies in Halloween costumes" Instant awesomeness.

1. Read the list of 1000 Awesome Things. With the final blog post only a week away now's the time to see the Top 1000 posts!

If you're in Toronto Wednesday April 18, you can join Pasricha at Chapters John St. and Richmond St. location for a special event announcing the #1 awesome thing.

If all else fails, a video of cute animals can put a smile on anyone's face.
