How to Choose a One-Piece Swimsuit

Emily Hsieh,Allure magazine

An Interview With Malia Mills Mills launched her swimwear line, known for its excellent fit, in 1991.

It's a mistake to think there's only one style that works for you-just consider how many different pairs of jeans you have.

Know your purpose. The suit you wear on holiday with your boyfriend isn't necessarily the one you'd wear for a family beach day. On an active vacation, you don't want to worry about whether your suit is going to stay on. Try on a ton of suits, and make sure you can bend over and even jump up and down without anything popping out. If you want a sexier style, look for a demure front and a very low back. When you turn around, it feels like a gorgeous reveal.

Find your style. A V-neck is universally flattering. Some D-cup women prefer a top with molded cups and wide straps, while others might want more va-va-voom; for them, a shelf bra or even string ties work. A well-cut strapless style can work on anyone, but if you're worried about a uniboob, look for a bandeau top or one with underwire or hidden boning.

Check the fit. A suit is too small if it's hard to pull on or you feel the elastic digging into your hips. It should lie flat against your skin, and when you gently pull the fabric, you should feel a bit of resistance. If there's any rippling, it's too big.
