Are You Eating Right...For Your Hair?

Certified nutritionist Deborah Enos recently reported on which foods are especially fabulous for your hair. While she was talking specifically about the millions of people who suffer from some kind of hair-loss (and it can happen to young women, especially if you're super-stressed), these tips are good for thick, shiny, healthy hair no matter what. She recommends beans for iron, zinc and biotin, walnuts and salmon because they're rich in omega-3's, and dark leafy greens for Vitamins A and C. It sounds like a delicious salad, right? Also on the list: Almonds, pecans and cashews, so if you like mixed nuts, you're in luck.

However, if you're not the salad-eating type, you can still give your hair (and nails!) a boost. There are tons of supplements out there that contain essential fatty acids and biotin. We recently chatted with Susanna Romano, a co-owner of Salon AKS in NYC, and she recommended Phyto's supplements. She said she noticed a huge difference in her own hair—that it was thicker and shinier—after taking them. They also make your mane grow faster, so if you're trying to get rid of some unfortunate bangs, they may be the answer.

Would you ever try hair supplements?

Good article. I started taking the Fish Oils a few weeks ago after losing a lot of hair, eyebrows and lashes due to stress. It's all growing back but my GP told me about the importance of the oils so starting taking them. It really does help and nice to see the information being shared because even though a lot of people may know about it, some of us didn't. :)
