The 5 Juices You Should Be Drinking

The 5 Juices You Should Be Drinking

If you’ve put juice on the no list because of the high sugar content – you’ve been missing out. These five juices offer some serious health benefits.

From a juice that will improve your sight to one that will increase blood flow to the brain – these super juices will give you super powers. (OK, not really, but it sure will feel like it.)

The 5 Juices You Should Be Drinking

    Carrot Juice

Juicing these beauties will perk-up your Vitamin A, B and E ratios while improving your sight, bone strength, teeth health, liver, nails, skin and hair. Carrots go well with pretty much anything, but try them with mint and orange for a refreshing zing.

The 5 Juices You Should Be Drinking

    Beet Juice

Beets turn everything a pretty pink colour while increasing blood flow to the brain, making them great for those can’t-get-out-of-bed early mornings. Try mixing them with carrot or apple juice to sweeten.

The 5 Juices You Should Be Drinking

    Leafy Greens

We're not going to lie: leafy greens won’t taste as delicious as fruit juice. But the health benefits make it worth a try. Kale, Swiss chard, collard greens and spinach are great for your skin and loaded with Vitamins A and C, calcium, iron, potassium and chlorophyll.

The 5 Juices You Should Be Drinking

    Cranberry Juice

Rich in quinine, these pretty red berries are good for kicking cold and flu bugs to the curb (and they’re great for curing urinary tract infections, too). They can taste pretty sour though, so sweeten the juice up with apples.

The 5 Juices You Should Be Drinking

    Ginger Juice

This fiery root is great for fighting colds and nausea, improving digestion and killing stomach cramps. Add carrots and apples for sweetness, colour and extra liquid.

Just eat the veggies they listed, when you juice youre wasting most of the veggie and almost all the fiber, and the fiber makes you feel fuller, which helps you not to over eat!

        not if you have a blender...like the vitamix..nothing gets wasted..mind you not too many people have a $ 600.00 blender...but I do
      • bluerose 6 months ago
Me too, I've worn one out and am on my second one. I love making raw veggie soup in it as well as smoothies. :)

Consumers should also be reminded that some fruits/juices like grapefruit cause problems for people taking certain prescription medicines. I take hypertension & anti-convulsant medicine; which cause condrications if grapefruit or it's juice is/are consumed.

That is another really important thing - thanks for pointing it out! I take a medication that can cause serious liver damage if taken consistently with grapefruit juice.

I hate condrications. Do you mean complications or that grapefruit is contra-indicated? But seriously, good point. Some immunosuppressants are seriously affected by Grapefruit.

You are absolutely right! I do not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit for that very reason. Thanks for sharing this information.

Wow, but I can never make the green leafy ones taste good ever!!!And they're the healthiest.

It's easier to just make a mixed fruit juice that you like, then whizz it in the blender with some leafies.... spinach is pretty neutral and gives it a neat, smoothie (but not thick) consistency that is easy to drink.

        Hi Neha
This is easy, mix leafy green with one third beet, one third pure unsweetened orange or cranberry juice and at times a little of ginger flavour. You will love it. ENJOY and good health.

I always take my green leafy juices mixed with green apples to give it a bit of a "kick" - sweetness and sourness. It tastes better than without.

What the article failes to mention is that you must have a juicer. Except for the cranberry juice, you have to juice these items yourself. You can't buy a bottle of "leafy greens" juice at the grocery store. As for the cranberry juice, you have to go to the health food store and buy the real, cranberry juice. It tastes like hell but it's very good for you. The cranberrry juice that the grocery stores sell is just concentrated apple juice with cranberry flavor. No health benefits at all. I wish these articles would start including all of the pertinent information. Without it, they are just spewing crap.

A company called Agro Labs sells a leafy greens juice called 'Green Envy', (sold at Costco). It has absolutely every green in it but apparently leafy green juices are best to drink the same day they are juiced or up to 3 days after as they will lose some their enzymes that make them potent. Best to have a juicer and make some green juice yourself.

I agree.... articles like this are so misleading because they don't give the most essential info, or even mention that you need to do more research.

You cant figure out u need a juicer on your own?

Please note that drinking cranberry juice CANNOT cure a urinary tract infection (UTI). This false statement could result in a delay in seeking medical attention and increase the risk of the infection traveling up the kidneys.

thank you for this article. I too am an avid juicer of carrots and other greens. It started when a family friend was diagnosed of breast cancer. It was already in stage 3 and she knew she didn't want a chemotherapy. She had a masectomy but didn't opt for the chemo. What she did was she had the following in her daily diet.
      1. carrot juice
      2. blended: boiled tomato, the white part of waternelon, calamansi including the peeling, grapes including the seeds, cabbage, broccoli, apple, carrot.

Now, she is healthy, radiant and cancer-free.
thank you. i just thought it might help.
another also which i drink everyday that gives me optimum help is moringa and lemon grass which i boil for 1 minute. simmer then drink. it is great.

If you're going to juice it yourself, sure. Otherwise, no thanks. Except cranberry juice. Always a bottle of that in my fridge for medicinal value and cranberries just aren't easy to get at the grocery store.

one banana, a handful of fresh spinach, 1/2 cup water and a light squeeze of fresh lemon juice is an incredible "smoothie", but a tastey way to get greens in! That will make enough for two to share. Kids like it too.

Carrot, beet and spinach juiced is absolutely delicious. I just get tired cleaner the 16 different parts in my @&#*&%@$ juicer!
    • Krayg  •  6 months ago
never undestood the desire to "juice" carrots or beets, I'd much rather eat them in their natural state -- unless it's V8, which is mostly tomato juice.

      Is gin and juice healthy????
    • Yusuf  •  6 months ago
Fruits or vegetables dont have to be taken in juicy form. I prefer having my carrots either eaten fresh, or sliced and steamed on rice just as the leafy vegetables.

Look up 'liferegenerator' on youtube. He's a bit over the top with his views about raw food diets but he does have some great information about juicing and its health benefits, you just have to filter some of the info. Been doing a lot of reading on juicing and about the merits of beets. Apparently one of the most powerful detoxifiers, so much so that you can get a bit sick from all the toxins that will be dumped into your liver but the condition is short lived until the liver finishes cleaning your system. Beets and its juice form are also studied to ward off cancers and inhibit the growth of existing tumors. I think people need to start looking at raw fruits and vegetables as being a main part of our diet and consume way less animal products or none at all. It's very eye opening when you start researching our typical North American diet and how unhealthy it is. We'd probably see way less cancers, diabetes and heart conditions if we started eating more raw fruits and vegetables. Does anyone have any recomended reading on the subject?
